A farce to be reckoned with

It used to be that when I received a Fav, I would journey to the user's page and leave them an appreciative comment. These days I just swing by and drop them a llama, because, you know, why not. I used the think the former option was the most appropriate, until I realized that I'm not really expecting any comments when I Fav work myself. Plus I'm fortunate to have Watchers that fav several of my deviations, and I'd hate to be spamming them with comments, even if they are thankful.

How do you guys thank people for Favs?

Why? In most cases, the artist isn't going to respond anyway. Especially if there stuff is like, really good. The elite artists of dA hardly have the time to pander to the groveling masses anyway. At least in my experience.

Besides, wouldn't you rather have a Fav instead of a Comment? Don't get me wrong, I love comments. I love praise and wit and digression. But at the end of the day, wouldn't you prefer your work is seen by more people?

Thoughts?

I got tagged by :iconalvah-and-friends:

1. You must post these rules. (If you want.)
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves. (If you have nothing better to do.)
3. You must choose 11 people to tag. Put their icon on your journal! (They may or may not participate.)
4. Go to their page and tell him/her that you tagged them. (Or not.)
5. No tag backs! (Just like in Grade 2.)

1. On average, I go to the zoo about 15 times a year.
2. I own 20 pairs of shoes, not counting hockey skates.
3. This is my second dA account. My first was this: :iconpoonraker:
4. I'm 1/3 Irish, and 2/3 Canadian.
5. I've worked for 3 different companies that went out of business.
6. I was kind of disappointed when the world didn't end in 2012.
7. I have cheated death for 30 years.
8. I'm an avid Harry Potter fan who can bench press 200 lbs.
9. Last summer I was banned from Ontario Provincial parks for 72 hours.
10. I like to get up at 8 AM on weekends.
11. I take 11:11 very seriously.

I'll tag a bunch of people, but I won't bug them by posting on their page. If you're checking out my Journal and want to give it a shot, go right ahead!

Update - Wednesday, March 5th:

It looks a handful of people are interested, while the vast majority of my 200+ Watchers could give two turds. But I'm in Marketing, and I don't get easily deterred by public disinterest. This just means I have to find a creative solution to reach the masses with what I think will be a fun little diversion. I was also thinking of creating a deviation marking the victory of the Slugfest Champion at the end of it all.

But before I worry about that, I need combatants. So in order to give people a better idea of how this will go down, I'm going to be opening a poll - an exhibition match, if you will - pitting two of my OC's against each other. All you do if vote for who you think would win. What's the criteria? Whatever the hell you like! Let's see how it goes!

Original Post:

Years ago when I was active on a James Bond forum, I would create polls featuring two members in a theoretical one-on-one fight. it was stupid, silly, fun and a great timekiller. So naturally I'm thinking it would be fun to try on dA where there are a plethora of original characters who are fit for battle. The poll would pit these two characters against each other and Deviants can vote for the winner. I wouldn't post other people's toons without getting their permission first. So let me then ask...who wants to enter the Slugfest?? :D

Thanks to all my dA pals who've been showing support for me lately. It's good to be back in the swing of things. More importantly, thank you to all my Watchers who have put up the full-on assault of my biggest deviation output in years. I appreciate everyone who jumped in on the collabs, and I've got plenty of your sketches to keep me busy. Expect to see them posted sporadically over the next little while in between original works.

See you on the battlefield,
A.D.
